Congratulations to Football's Dwayne Hollis!

Rocky Mount, N.C. - Congratulations are in order for North Carolina Wesleyan senior defensive back/return specialist Dwayne Hollis, who has earned a trio of post-season awards, highlighted by his becoming the first Bishop in history to be awarded All-American honors by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)! Hollis received his AFCA recognition at defefensive back.

In addition to his AFCA accolades, Hollis was also chosen as a Beyond Sports Network (BSN) All-American for a second consecutive season, as well as a D3Football.com Second Team All-American at return specialist.  His D3Football award followed First Team All-Region honors at return specialist and Third Team accolades at safety, making him the first Bishop in program history to earn All-Region honors at two separate positions.

Hollis' post-season recognition began within the USA South, where he picked up also picked up honors at two different positions for the second straight season, garnering a pair of First Team awards after tallying a team-high four interceptions (one returned for TD), five pass break-ups and nine pass deflections. He added 46 tackles and a fumble recovery to his resume, while return-wise, he averaged over 13 yards per punt return with two touchdowns. On kickoffs, the Newport News, Va. native averaged nearly 24 yards per return with a TD.
