Thomas Earns Second Straight Defensive Rookie of the Week Nod

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for October 2nd, with N.C. Wesleyan freshman Tariq Thomas earning his second straight Defensive Rookie of the Week honor in football.

A defensive back from Longwood, N.C., Thomas totaled seven tackles, two pass break-ups, and his first career interception in a 17-7 loss to USA South foe Ferrum on Saturday. He made five solo tackles and two assisted takedowns, while his interception came deep in Bishop territory to stop a ponential scoring drive.
