Former Bishop Football Player Playing with Atlanta Legends of the AAF

A former NC Wesleyan College football player, Dwayne Hollis, 29, recently made his debut for the Atlanta Legends of the brand new Alliance of American Football (AAF), which serves as a type of developmental league for the NFL. It began its first season this past weekend, Feb. 9-10.

Hollis, a defensive back for the Legends, played for the Battling Bishops from 2009 to 2012 under Head Coach Mark Henninger and helped the Bishops to 20 wins. As a sophomore, Hollis was named First Team All-USA South Athletic Conference as a Defensive Back. As a junior and senior, Hollis was named First Team All-USA South Athletic Conference as both a kick returner and as a defensive back. Hollis was also named an All-American at defensive back by the American Football Coaches Association.

He is a native of Newport News, Virginia and attended Denbigh High School graduating in 2009.

Hollis has also played for the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League from 2015-2017 as a kick returner and defensive back. While there, he helped lead the Soul to back-to-back Arena Bowl Championships and was also named an AFL Defensive Back of the Year in 2017.
