Virginia Beach, Va. - North Carolina Wesleyan's softball team continued it solid start to the season with two more wins at the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast Tournament this weekend. The Bishops knocked of CUNY-Baruch and Pitt-Greensburg by 7-2 and 10-1 scores, respectively, on Friday. Saturday's play was cancelled due to inclement weather.

NCWC is now 6-2 overall.

Against Baruch, sophomore hurler Leanna Fann moved to 4-1 on the season with a complete-game performance, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven. Offensively, freshmen Carla Matthews and Paige Pritchett had three hits apiece with a combined three RBIs and two runs scored.

Versus Greensburg, senior Meredith Mills hit a walk-off, two-run double in the fifth. The hit was Mills' second of the game, while Amanda Warley and Sarah Roberts also added two hits apiece. Freshman Logan Tollison blasted a two-run homer in the first that proved to be the game-winner.

Freshman Kelsi Bailey (2-1) picked up the win in the circle, going five complete and scattering just three hits to go along with six strikeouts.

Wesleyan hosts Emory & Henry College on Monday afternoon. The non-conference twinbill is slated for a 2:00pm start at Edge Field.
