Softball Honors Three Seniors in Split to Meredith

Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan softball program honored Mary Katherine Raynor, Abby Todd, and Kelsi Rhodes on Senior Day against Meredith. With the split, Wesleyan secured third place in the USA South tournament.

The Basics:

How it Happened (Game 1):

  • Wesleyan scored all four runs in the second inning with Ava Lowry and Skyler Walker contributing big singles. The four runs ended up being enough to win the 4-0 shutout.
  • On the mound, Emily Humphery had one of the best outings of her career tossing a complete game two-hit shutout. She also only walked one for the afternoon.

How it Happened (Game 2):

  • Seniors Abby Todd and Kelsi Rhodes both shined in game two with Todd getting a base knock and Rhodes contributing an RBI single. 
  • The Bishop's lone run came in the fifth where Lowry reached on an error to score Lillie Baumbach.
  • Avery Jordan would come in relief and keep the game competitive allowing three hits over 3 2/3 innings pitched without giving up a run. 

Up Next:

The softball program will face Mary Baldwin in the first round of the USA South Tournament on Thursday at Greensboro College as the #3 seed.
