Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan softball team turned in a two-game sweep of Salem College on Tuesday afternoon at Edge Field, downing the Sprits by an 11-3 score in both contests. The Bishops have now won five straight to move to 5-3 on the season, with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents.

In the opener, Salem took an early lead with three runs in the top of the first. Wesleyan got things going in their half of the fourth, plating nine runs on five hits and a pair of Spirit errors. Freshman Tiffany Manning delivered the big blow with a bases-loaded double that drove in three.

The Bishops went on to end the game in five innings with two runs in the fifth. Senior Leanna Fann (2-2) picked up the win in the circle, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits.

Offensively, Carly Creef, Kendra Hoes, Paige Pritchett and Maria Seay had two hits apiece, with the latter three tallying two RBIs each.

In the nightcap, the Spirits plated single runs in the first and second innings, but the Bishops countered with 10 runs of their own over the same two frames.  Both teams scratched runs in the fifth for the 11-3 final.

Creef finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while Pritchett and Seay combined for seven RBIs on four hits. Pritchett's first hit was deposited over the left-centerfield fence for a two-run homer, her second of the season. Sophomore Jasmine Edgren (2-0) earned the win on the mound.

Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday when the Bishops open up USA South play with Averett University. Game one is slated for a 1:00pm start at Edge Field.
