Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's softball team honored its 2014 senior class on Saturday afternoon at Edge Field, then celebrated by logging a two-game sweep of Covenant College. With all six seniors playing major roles, the Bishops took game one by a 6-1 score before tallying a 4-3 come-from-behind win in the nightcap. Paige Pritchett went 4-4 in the opener to help Leanna Fann earn the win, while game two saw Carly Creef, Jessica Hodges and Brittni Jones load the bases in the bottom of the seventh to set the stage for Maria Seay's walk-off double.

In the opener, junior Kendra Hoes gave Wesleyan all the offense it would need with a grand slam homerun in the first inning. It was more than enough for Fann (5-5), who gave up just one run on six hits with a trio of strikeouts.

Game two saw the Scots take an early 2-0 lead in their first at-bat, but RBIs by Pritchett and Sarah Roberts in Wesleyan's half of the frame made quick work of the deficit.

Covenant eventually took a 3-2 lead after scratching a run in the fourth, and the Scots looked poised to salvage a split. The Bishops, however, had other plans for a seventh-inning rally.  After Hodges reached on a one-out error, Creef and Jones followed with a single and walk, respectively, to load the bases. Seay then delivered a game-winning double to right-center that ignited a Bishop celebration.

Sophomore Jasmine Edgren (6-4) picked up the win in the circle.

Previously on Friday, the Bishops dropped a two-game set to 8th-ranked Piedmont (22-2, 12-0 USA South) by 3-0 and 5-2 scores. The Bishops left the bases loaded in the fifth inning of game one and the seventh inning of game two to help the league-leading Lions survive NCWC's upset bid.

Wesleyan (12-12, 7-5 USA South) wraps up the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday afternoon when the Bishops host Meredith College. Game one is slated for a 2:00pm start.
