Rocky Mount, N.C. - Sophomore Shelby Godwin picked her up second straight USA South win with a 2-1 victory over Meredith College in game two of Saturday's USA South twinbill at Edge Field. The Bishops, who dropped the opener 11-3 in five innings, plated a pair of unearned runs in the first that proved to be enough to salvage the split.

The Angels (12-12, 3-1 USA South) chased Bishop ace Logan Lowery in the first inning of the opener with six runs on six hits in the frame. The Bishops (8-10, 4-2 USA South) got as close as 8-3 in the second on Tiffany Manning and Hannah Ivester RBIs, but Meredith would plate three more over their final three at-bats to end the game after five complete.

Game two saw the Bishops scratch a pair of unearned runs in their first at-bat, thanks in part to a trio of Meredith fielding errors. Sarah Bowyer and Manning each had RBIs in the frame, while Godwin cruised through a scoreless first four innings of work.

In the fifth, the Angels threatened when a walk and bunt single eventually resulted in runners at second and third with two outs. A Bishop miscue plated Meredith's first run, unearned, but Godwin ended the threat with a pop-up to first. Godwin proceeded to sit down six of the final seven batters she faced, including a 1-2-3 seventh, to seal her third victory of the season. She allowed just three hits and struck out seven in the complete-game effort.

Wesleyan's Sunday doubleheader versus Averett has been moved to Tuesday due to the threat of snow and frigid temps. Game one on Tuesday is slated for a 2:00pm start at Edge Field.
