ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College softball team welcomed the defending Div. III Champions, Virginia Wesleyan, on Wednesday but fell 3-0 in game one and 10-3 in game two.

VWU's two-time player of the year, pitcher Hannah Hull shut down the Lady Bishops in game one as she pitched a no-hitter.

However, Bishop starter Beth Braswell pitched pretty well herself allowing 7 hits and 3 runs (only 2 earned) on 2 walks and 3 strikeouts over 7 innings falling to 9-4 on the year.

Braswell then led the Bishops with a 3-run home run in the first inning in game two that plated NCWC with a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately, the Marlins would then shut the Bishops down the rest of the game while they scored 8 more runs themselves to go on for the win and improve to 25-2.

Sophomore CF Nichole Mooney posted the lone multi-hit game for the Bishops while senior pitcher Shelby Godwin and catcher Summer Phillips also posted hits for NCWC. Phillips and Braswell led with extra-base hits while Phillips also stole a base. Braswell now has 5 home runs and 21 RBIs on the season.

Godwin fell to 6-6 with the loss as she allowed 7 earned runs over 7 innings. NC Wesleyan goes to 15-10 on the year with the losses and next returns home on Saturday to host Peace on Senior Day at 1:00.
