Raleigh, N.C. - Sophomore Linesha Tinsley's lay-up at the 8:33 mark of the first half gave her Battling Bishops a 19-18 lead they would not relinquish, and North Carolina Wesleyan went on to tally a key road win over Peace College by a 68-61 score on Tuesday night in Raleigh. The conference road win and season sweep are the first of head coach Artina Trader's tenure, but more importantly, move her Bishops to 8-7 on the season and 5-5 in USA South action.

A close game for majority of the first half, it was Tinsley, Shanice Goree and A'leisha Henderson who sparked Wesleyan off the bench with a combined 14 points (seven straight by Goree) over a five-minute span that saw the Bishops go up eight at 31-23. NCWC would eventually forge a 38-25 halftime lead.

Wesleyan led by as many as 15 on two occasions in the second half, the latter coming with just under five minutes remaining at 62-47. It was then, however, that the Pacers mounted a furious 11-0 rally that saw them pull to within four points, 62-58, at the 1:55 mark. Fortunately for Bishop fans, NCWC found its composure, knocking down 6-of-8 free throw attempts down the stretch to secure the seven-point victory.

Goree led Wesleyan with a team-high 15 points, while Monet Edwards added nine. Tinsley and junior Samantha Urquhart chipped in eight points apiece, with Tinsley and freshman Shelby Jackson pulling down a team-high seven rebounds each. As a team, the Bishops shot 41 percent from the floor compared to 27 percent accuracy for the Pacers (2-15, 1-9 USA South).

Wesleyan returns home on Saturday to host USA South foe Meredith College. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in Everett Gymnasium.
