Wesleyan Hoops Prepares to Play 4Kay on Saturday

Rocky Mount, N.C. - This Saturday, February 18th, the North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball team will show its support of the 2012 Play 4Kay campaign when the Battling Bishops take the court versus Ferrum College. The late Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, served as the catalyst for Play 4Kay, formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone, after her third recurrence of breast cancer in 2006. That year, Coach Yow joined forces with the WBCA in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball and beyond.

A yearly service project for our women's basketball team, the Battling Bishops will be sporting pink warm-up shirts and shoelaces on Saturday in support of this worthy cause. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game, while pink beads will be sold at the door.  All proceeds will go to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Last year, over 1,300 teams and individuals across the nation joined forces to raise over $675,000 for the Fund.

Saturday's Play 4Kay game is slated for a 2:00pm start in Everett Gymnasium. For more information on this initiative, please visit the official Play 4Kay website at www.play4kay.org.
