All-Conference Awards Announced in Women's Hoops
Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South announced it postseason women's basketball awards on Wednesday, and North Carolina Wesleyan had a four student-athletes earn accolades. Junior Samantha Urquhart and sophomore Tiffany Bell were each Third Team selections, while freshman Derreon Cole earned Honorable Mention recognition.  Senior Melony Walker rounded out Wesleyan's award-winners as the Battling Bishops' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Urquhart built on her Honorable Mention status as a sophomore with a Third Team honor as a junior. The Franklin, Va. native led NCWC in rebounding this season and was seventh in the USA South at 8.0 boards per game. Additionally, she ranked second on the team in scoring at 9.6 points per game, while leading the Bishops in free throw percentage (81.2).
 
A native of Waldorf, Md., Bell picks up the first All-Conference nod of her brief career as a Third Team pick. She led the Bishops in scoring this season at 11.1 points per game, which placed her in the top-15 in the league. Bell also led Wesleyan in field goal percentage (40.2) and was second in assists (61).
 
Finally, freshman Derreon Cole made her way onto the league's Honorable Mention squad thanks to her impressive play down the stretch. The Elizabeth City, N.C. native averaged 8.2 points per game in conference play and shot 65 percent at the charity stripe in 80 attempts, which ranked second on the team.
 
A product of Hopewell, Va., Walker was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the first time in her career.
