Greensboro, N.C. - Senior Samantha Urquhart averaged nearly 18 points and 9 rebounds a game, but it would not be enough as her Battling Bishop women's basketball team dropped a pair of contests at the Daly Seven Hotels Classic hosted by Guilford College. Wesleyan fell to the host Quakers by a 70-54 tally in Saturday's season opener, then dropped a 74-60 decision to Roanoke on Sunday.

Versus Guilford (3-0) on Saturday, the Quakers never trailed by more than five points. Guilford shot 47.2% from the floor in the second half, 23% better than the Battling Bishops, to solidify the victory.  The Quakers also outscored their opponents 20-7 off turnovers.

GC's Brittany Drew had a team-high 15 points, while Morgan King turned in a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Urquhart paced Wesleyan with a game-high 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds.  Fellow senior Leann Breeden contributed 14 points, 12 of which came from downtown, while also grabbing seven boards.  Sophomore Derreon Cole added ten points.
Against Roanoke (1-2) on Sunday, the Maroons' Paxton Gwin hit for a career-high 27 points in her squad's 14-point win. She poured in 19 first-half points, which staked RC's 42-30 lead at the break. Led by Gwin, Roanoke shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half and committed only four turnovers.
Urquhart scored 11 of her team-high 19 points in the second half, but the Battling Bishops drew no closer than eight points. Cole chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Bishops.
Wesleyan (0-2) returns to action next Saturday and Sunday at Methodist's University Turkey Shoot in Fayetteville. The Bishops will face Hood at 6:00pm on Saturday, followed by a 3:00pm tip-off with Mary Washington on Sunday.
