Rocky Mount, N.C. - In Tuesday night's non-conference women's basketball action, the Apprentice School shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half to turn a four-point halftime deficit into a nine-point win over the Battling Bishops, 65-56.

Wesleyan had twice led by as many as nine points in the first half, the latter coming at the 2:59 mark on a Kourtney Salisbury trey that put NCWC up 32-23. Apprentice managed to close out the half with a 5-0 run for a 32-28 Bishop lead at the break.

In the second half, the Bishops' Alijah Brown and Courtney Small netted the first two buckets of the half to push Wesleyan back up by eight, but a 12-3 run by the Builders gave them their first lead since the opening minutes, 40-39, with 13:22 remaining.

From that point on, the game would feature four lead changes and three ties before Apprentice took the lead for good, 51-50, with just under seven minutes to go. Forced to foul down the stretch, the Builders largest lead came with their final margin of victory.

Senior Samantha Urquhart led Wesleyan with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. She was joined in double-figures by Tiffany Bell with 18 of her own.

April McCoy paced Apprentice with a game-high 19 points to go along with 11 boards.

The Bishops (1-4) open up USA South play this weekend when they host Piedmont and LaGrange on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both games are slated for 2:00pm in Everett Gym.
