Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan women's basketball team suffered a 67-59 loss to Lynchburg College on Sunday afternoon in the team's first action following an extensive holiday break. Junior Shanice Goree turned in a solid all-around performance with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals in the losing effort.

The Bishops started slow but overcame a 15-point first half deficit to trail just 34-32 at the break. NCWC led early in the second half, 39-36, just three minutes in, but a 19-7 run by the Hornets over the next seven minutes gave LC a lead it would not relinquish.

Wesleyan struggled offensively down the stretch, shooting just 28 percent from the floor in the period.

Joining Goree in double-figures were Tiffany Bell with a team-high 14 points and Derreon Cole with 10. Senior Samantha Urquhart pulled down 11 rebounds on the day.

Lynchburg (7-3) was paced by Shannon Allan's game-high 23 points.

The Bishops (3-5) return to action on New Year's day when they travel to Virginia Wesleyan College for a 2:00pm tip-off with the Marlins.
