Urquhart Shines in 69-46 League Win at Mary Baldwin

Staunton, Va. - Senior Samantha Urquhart turned in one of her best statistical performances of the season on Saturday, notching a double-double of 22 points and 19 rebounds in the Bishops' 69-46 USA South win at Mary Baldwin.

Baldwin (0-13, 0-6 USA South) kept things interesting in the first half, erasing an eight-point deficit to pull with one, 27-26, with 2:54 left in the period. Urquhart responded by scoring seven of Wesleyan's next eight points, giving her squad at 35-31 advantage at the break.

The second half saw the Bishops extend their lead to double figures, 42-32, when Urquhart knocked down a three-ball at the 13:41 mark. From there, back-to-back buckets from sophomores Courtney Small and Derreon Cole kicked off a 16-5 run that put Wesleyan up by 21 points, 58-37, with less than five minutes to go.

NCWC went on to lead by as many as 25 down the stretch en route to the 23-point victory.

Joining Urquhart in double-figures were juniors Tiffany Bell and Monet Edwards with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Edwards completed the double-double with 10 rebounds on the day.

The difference in the game statistically came on the boards where Wesleyan held a dominating 66-38 advantage and converted 22 second-chance points. 

Wesleyan (5-8, 4-2 USA South) returns to action on Wednesday when the Bishops host nationally-ranked Christopher Newport at 7pm in Everett Gymnasium. The game will be webcasted live via ncwcsports.com.
