Ferrum, Va. - Junior Tiffany Bell averaged over 22 points a game over the weekend, but it would not be enough as her Battling Bishop women's basketball team suffered a pair of league losses at co-leading Maryville and Ferrum on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

At Maryville, Bell netted a season-high 23 points and kept the Bishops close early. The Scots (14-2, 8-1 USA South), however, shot a blistering 64.5 percent from the floor in the second half to pull away for the eventual 98-57 victory.

On Sunday at Ferrum, Wesleyan trailed just 48-42 at the break, but the Panthers (14-1, 8-1 USA South) took advantage of the Bishops' slow start to the second half with an 18-1 run that helped them pull away for a 105-82 win.

Bell had 22 in the loss, while fellow junior Shanice Goree chipped in 20. They were joined in double-figures by freshman Amanda Sherman's career high 12 points and Derreon Cole's 10.

The Battling Bishops (6-10, 5-4 USA South) return to action at home next Saturday when they host Meredith College at 2:00pm.
