Bishops Open League Play at WPU with 90-62 Victory

Raleigh, N.C. - The women's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan cruised to a dominating 90-62 win over William Peace University on Tuesday night in the USA South opener for both squads. The Bishops opened the game with a 19-1 run and did not look back en route to their second consecutive victory.

NCWC held a 48-28 lead at the half as Tiffany Bell, Shanice Goree and Kenyata Harris all reached double-figures in the period. Bell and Harris went on to net 16 points apiece, with Harris completing the double-double with 12 rebounds.

Goree notched 15 points on the night, while fellow seniors Monet Edwards and Kourtney Salisbury chipped in 15 and 13, respectively. As a team, the Bishops shot over 48 percent from the floor and connected on a solid 18-of-23 free throw attempts. NCWC also held a 48-37 advantage on the boards.

Wesleyan (3-4, 1-0 USA South) continues USA South play on Sunday with a road contest at Piedmont College. Tip-off is slated for 1:00pm.
