Davis Paces Bishop Women in 71-66 Win over Hawks

Montgomery Ala. / LaGrange, Ga. - Junior NeTaih Davis poured in a career-high 25 points on Saturday to help lead her Battling Bishop women's basketball team to a 71-66 USA South win at Huntingdon College. Davis went on to score 11 more on Sunday, but Wesleyan would be unable to pull off a road sweep, falling at LaGrange by a 76-66 score.

Versus Huntingdon (11-4, 3-4 USA South), the Bishops found themselves down 63-56 with 5:22 remaining in regulation. Led by a trio of Davis buckets, Wesleyan closed out the game with a 15-3 run that was capped by a 6-for-6 showing at the free throw line in the final minute.

Freshman Kenyata Harris and senior Shanice Goree joined Davis in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively. Davis and Harris also pulled down nine rebounds apiece.

Against LaGrange (12-6, 6-3 USA South), the Panthers opened the game with a 6-0 run never trailed, forging a 31-22 lead at the break en route to an eventual 10-point victory. Freshman Jordan Cager netted a career-high 14 points and pulled down six rebounds to pace the Bishops.

The Bishops (5-8, 3-4 USA South) return home on Wednesday to host league rival Methodist University at 5:30pm.
