Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its women's basketball weekly awards for January 27th, and North Carolina Wesleyan's Kenyata Harris has been tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Harris, a freshman guard from Raleigh, averaged 17.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.0 assists per contest last week versus USA South competition.
In a 69-67 loss to Meredith, Harris scored a career-high 28 points with nine rebounds, four assists and one block. She followed that performance up with a 15-point showing versus Huntingdon in a 71-66 Bishop win. Harris added nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in the victory. Finally, in a 76-66 loss at LaGrange, she contributed eight points, seven rebounds and one steal.
