Bishops Down MBC, Fall at Ferrum to Wrap Up Season

Staunton, Va. / Ferrum, Va. - The Battling Bishop women's basketball team wrapped up its 2014-2015 slate over the weekend with a USA South split at Mary Baldwin and Ferrum. Wesleyan cruised to a 69-41 victory over MBC on Friday before dropping its season finale to the Panthers on Sunday, finishing the season with a 7-17 overall record. Sophomore Kenyata Harris averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds over the two-game span.

At MBC on Friday, sophomore Jordan Cager scored the game's first basket less than two minutes in, and the Bishops would never trail en route to the 28-point victory.

Senior NeTaih Davis and Harris paced the Bishops with a pair of impressive double-doubles. Davis netted 15 points to go along with a career-high 16 rebounds, while Harris turned in a game-high 17 points and grabbed 15 boards. Cager and fellow sophomore Alexis Fitzgerald joined them in double-figures with 13 points apiece.

At Ferrum, freshman Shekinah Huggins drained a three-pointer on the game's opening possession, but unfortunately, it would be the only lead Wesleyan would hold. The Panthers scored 14 of the game's next 16 points and went on to secure a 49-34 win in a low-scoring affair.

Huggins finished with nine points, and Harris chipped in 15 off the bench. Cager managed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Sunday's game at Ferrum marked the end of the careers of four-year seniors Alijah Brown and Davis.
