Bishops Fall to Ferrum, Hoops Schedules Altered by Storm

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Battling Bishop women's basketball team managed to squeeze in its USA South opener with Ferrum College on Friday afternoon, beating the impending weather but falling by a 63-51 score to the Panthers in Everett Gym. Wesleyan's men, who were set for a pair of road contests this weekend, were forced to return to campus and reschedule their respective games at Ferrum and Averett.

The men's game at Ferrum has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 8th, at 4:30pm. The Bishops and Cougars have rescheduled their match-up in Danville for Sunday, January 22nd, at 2:00pm.

As for the women's game on Friday, the Bishops came out on fire, opening the game with a 10-0 run and clinging to a 19-14 lead after one quarter of play. Unfortunately, Wesleyan went cold from the floor in the second and third quarters, getting no closer than ten points down the stretch after Ferrum's Zarkia Mattox padded her team's eventual lead with a game-high 22 points.

Junior KeChae Parker notched a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bishops.

Wesleyan's game versus Mary Baldwin University on Sunday has been postponed. No make-up date has been set.
