ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.- NC Wesleyan sophomore guard Kayla Johnson hit a game-winning three pointer at the buzzer to lift the Battling Bishop women to a come-from-behind 73-72 win at home on Saturday afternoon over Pfeiffer University (N.C.).

Wesleyan went on a 25-9 run in the fourth quarter to edge the Falcons after trailing by 15 to start the fourth. The Bishops used 10 threes while shooting 47 percent from three in the second half and some tenacious defense by holding Pfeiffer to just 31 second half points and only three 3-pointers to pick up the much needed win.

Pfeiffer led 22-10 at the end of the first and 41-26 at the break as NCWC got off to a slow start on offense. However, the Biashops would outscore the Falcons 47-31 in the second half to pick up the exciting win.

The Bishops improved to 9-12 overall and 7-5 in the East Division while dropping Pfeiffer to 8-8 and 5-7 in the conference.

Johnson's 26 points led all scorers in the game while her 7 threes were a season and career high. Johnson also added 7 rebounds, an assist and a team high 4 steals while fellow sophomore, forward Javana Jones registered a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Wesleyan also out-rebounded the Falcons 44-34 including a huge 25-4 edge on the offensive boards.

Sophomore guard Cydney Nichols also had a good game scoring 16 points for the Bishops on the strength of some big momentum-changing three-pointers along with 2 boards and a steal. Senior guard Nadiya Holley also tallied 8 points for the women while adding 5 rebounds, a steal and an assist as well. The point guard duo of Daijah Davis and Keorra Taylor also combined for 6 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal.
