Rocky Mount, N.C. - The 5th-ranked Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan shot 53 percent from the floor and knocked down ten three-pointers en route to a 99-76 victory over homestanding North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon in Everett Gymnasium. The Marlins' DJ Woodmore led all players with 26 points, while the Bishop trio of Domarius Thomas, Devin Nichols and Josh Morrison had 11 apiece.

The first half featured four lead changes and two ties, the last coming at 25-25 at the 8:19 mark. The ensuing 7-0 Marlin run was countered by a David Gurganus three-pointer for the Bishops, which was followed by a perfect pass from Gurganus to Domarius Thomas for an ally-oop that pulled the Bishops to within two, 32-30.

VWC (5-1), however, went on to out-score NCWC 8-1 over the final three minutes of the period for a 40-31 advantage at the break. It was then all Marlins in the second half as VWC shot nearly 65 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.

NCWC (5-3) now breaks for exams before returning to action on the road next weekend. The Bishops will take on Covenant College at 2:00pm Saturday followed by a 2:00pm match-up with Maryville (TN) on Sunday.
