Basketball Advances to USA South Finals

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's basketball team defeated Brevard 77-55 to advance to the USA South Championship game. The Bishops had all 5 starters in double digits and Marquis Eskew led the way with 15 points and 3 rebounds for Wesleyan. Senior Isaiah Lewis also had a tremendous showing for the Bishops. The USA South Player of the Year scored 13 points and also contributed 3 boards to the contest in 31 minutes.

On defense, Wesleyan held the Tornados to under 27% from 3 and under 40% from the field. The Bishops also won the rebounding battle 47-28, nearly doubling Brevard.

Brayden Dixon and Kyron Kelly helped facilitate the offense inside and out by both having 12 points and Kelly having a double-double with 11 rebounds. 

Saturday will be the 2nd time in the past 3 years both basketball programs have competed for a conference tournament championship on the same day. Tip-off for the men's game is scheduled for 2 pm against William Peace in Everett Gymnasium. The Bishop men are also looking to go to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in over a decade on Saturday.
