Ferrum, Va. - Ferrum got 30 points from Marcus Mayo and 20 from Daryl Hart as the Panthers downed North Carolina Wesleyan by an 83-79 score in Wednesday night's USA South men's basketball action. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Battling Bishops.
The Panthers (10-8, 3-3 USA South) led by as many as 11 in the first half before a 10-2 run by the Bishops pulled them to within three points at the break, 39-36.
The second half again saw Ferrum forge an 11-point advantage only to see Wesleyan battle back to tie the contest at 56-56 at the 9:02 mark. The Panthers, however, scored eight of the game's next ten points to go up six and they did not look back en route to the victory.
The Bishops (9-9, 3-3 USA South) had five players reach double figures, led by sophomore Josh Morrison's 16.
Wesleyan travels to Christopher Newport next Tuesday night for a 7:30pm tip-off with the Captains.
