Rocky Mount, N.C. -  Senior Domarius Thomas poured in 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help his Battling Bishop men's basketball team to an 89-76 victory over Averett University on Wednesday night in Everett Gym. With the win, Wesleyan improves to 11-10 on the season and now stands at 5-4 in USA South action.

The first half featured seven lead changes and four ties early before a 16-4 NCWC run allowed the Bishops to pull away for a 48-34 lead at the break. Wesleyan shot over 51 percent from the floor in the period, knocking down 7-of-15 three-point attempts.

Averett (7-16, 2-8 USA South) got no closer than eight in the second half, 66-58 at the 9:29 mark. Wesleyan quickly erased any thoughts of a comeback with an 8-0 run to go up 16. Junior Julian Martin scored six of the eight points during the span, including a huge trey that pushed the lead to double digits.

Martin finished with 15, while Cornelius Snow and Josh Morrison chipped in 12 and 10, respectively. As a team, the Bishops shot over 50 percent from the floor and 45 percent from behind the arc on the night.

For the Cougars, Marquis Scott tallied a team-high 17 points.

Wesleyan continues play on Saturday when the Bishops travel to Shenandoah for a 4:00pm contest versus the Hornets.
