Rocky Mount, N.C. - Senior Cornelius Snow scored seven of his 15 points in overtime, leading his N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team to a come-from-behind 89-85 win over the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday night in Everett Gym. The Eagles fall to 2-3 with the loss, while the Bishops, who recieved votes in this week's national D3hoops.com poll, improve to 6-0.

UMW started strong, making 10 of its first 12 shots for a 26-9 advantage with 13:47 left in the first half. The Eagles upped their lead to 30-12 with 9:53 remaining before Wesleyan answered with a 13-0 run to cut the deficit to five, 30-25, with 6:40 left. UMW went on to lead 41-35 at the half.

Both teams continued to shoot very well from the floor in the second half, with UMW leading by as many as 11 early and as few as one with 10:27 remaining. An 8-0 run by the Eagles pushed their lead back up to nine at 61-52 with 8:37 to go.

UMW again led by nine with three minutes left, but a 11-2 run by the Bishops would provide the first tie of the contest. UMW had led the entire 39:24 to that point, only to see a jumper by senior Brandon Givens knot the score at 76-76. NCWC's defense held strong on the Eagles' ensuing possession, with sophomore Chris Ford securing the rebound that forced overtime.

In the extra period, Givens gave the Bishops their first lead of the contest with a pair of free throws just seconds in. The Eagles proceeded to net the game's next five points for an 81-78 lead, but consecutive baskets by junior Josh Morrison put the Bishops back on top 82-81. NCWC did not trail again as Snow sealed the victory by drilling back-to-back treys on Wesleyan's next two possessions.

Givens finished with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds, while Morrison and Ford finished with 14 and 13, respectively. Senior Julian Martin and junior David Gurganus provided huge lifts off the bench with a trio of three-pointers apiece and a combined 19 points.  Freshman Evan Collins dished out four assists.

Jamie Richardson led the Eagles with 23 points, while Taylor Johnson scored 19 and Bradley Riester added 16 with a team-high seven rebounds.

The Bishops return to action at 4:00pm this Saturday at Mid-Atlantic Christian University. NCWC downed the Mustangs back on opening night by an 84-76 score.
