Second Half Run Sends Quakers Past Bishops, 80-64

Greensboro, N.C. - Guilford College used a strong second half effort to down North Carolina Wesleyan by an 80-64 score in Saturday afternoon's non-conference hoops action. The Quakers, who led just 37-35 at the break, out-scored the Bishops 28-13 over the final 11 minutes to secure their sixth win of the season. With the loss, NCWC drops to 7-2 overall.

It looked to be anyone's game midway through the final period, as Wesleyan's Brandon Givens made one of two free throws to pull the Bishops to within one point, 52-51, with 11:21 remaining. Guilford, however, reeled off 10 straight points to start a decisive 19-4 run from which the Bishops would not recover.

Guilford had five players notch double-figures on the day, led by Josh Pittman's team-high 18.

Givens, who started the week ranked second among NCAA Division III scoring leaders, netted a game-high 27 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, six off the offensive glass. Fellow senior Cornelius Snow chipped in 11 points.

The Bishops will now break for the holidays before returning to action on December 29th versus USA South foe Ferrum College.
