Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan senior Brandon Givens has become the seventh Battling Bishop in program history to garner All-American honors on the hardwood. The 2013 USA South Player of the Year, Givens earned accolades from four different associations, including First Team honors by DIII News and Basketball Times, as well as a Second Team nod by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and a Third Team selection by D3Hoops.com.

The honors come on the heels of one of the best individual seasons in program history, as Givens captured the nation's scoring title and set a new program record for scoring average at 26.8 points per game. In the process, Givens became the first Wesleyan player to net more than 700 points in a season with 724, while his 265 rebounds ranked third all-time. Additionally, Givens' 272 made free throws and 343 attempted free throws set new USA South and Wesleyan single-season highs.

The 2013-2014 slate also saw Givens lead his Battling Bishops to their fifth straight winning season, which included a pair of wins over then nationally-ranked Hampden-Sydney and Christopher Newport. The win versus CNU proved to be a record-night for the Ruffin, S.C. native, as he poured in a program-best 50 points to break his own record of 43 points set earlier in the season.

Most recently, Givens became the first Wesleyan player to be named to the NABC All-Star team, and he again rose to the occasion with an All-Star record 43 points.

The N.C. Wesleyan Department of Athletics congratulates Brandon on his stellar season and his multiple All-American honors!
