Fayetteville, N.C. - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with  the sport of men's basketball, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed ten Bishop players on the squad.

The sport of men's basketball is one of the five original Conference-sponsored sports, as the first regular season and tournament championships took place during the 1963-64 season. Each institution that has spent at least five years in the Conference has laid claim to at least one regular season or tournament championship.

N.C. Wesleyan has experienced much success within the league, having captured seven regular season championships, four league tournament titles and five NCAA tournament berths. The 2012-13 season saw the program celebrate its own 50th anniversary by talling its 600th overall win, while individually, the Bishops have collected a plethora accolades over the years. Most notably, Wesleyan has had seven players garner All-American status, led by Roger Taylor and Terry Wright whose #44 and #41 jerseys are retired, respectively.

Below are the names and a brief summary of accolades for those Battling Bishops named to the 50th Anniversary Team. On behalf of the Department of Athletics, we congratulate each of these men on this noteworthy recognition.

• Lloyd Watts (1,000-Pt. Scorer, All-Conference, Tournament MVP, 2-time NCWC MVP, NCWC Hall of Famer)
• Marquis McDougald (All-American, 1,000-Pt. Scorer, 3-time All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year, 3-time MVP, NCWC Hall of Famer)
• Jamar Jones (All-American, 1,000-Pt. Scorer, 2-time All-Conference, MVP, NCWC Hall of Famer)
• Chris Moody (All-American, 1,000-Pt. Scorer, All-Conference, MVP, NCWC Hall of Famer)
• Bradley Blue (All-American, 1,000-Pt. Scorer, 3-time All-Conference, MVP)
• Keith Sudler (1,000-Pt. Scorer, 4-time All-Conference, Conference Rookie of the Year, MVP)
• Trey Drake (All-American, 1,000-Pt. Scorer, 3-time All-Conference, Conference Rookie & Player of the Year, MVP)
• Brandon Givens (All-American, Conference Player of the Year, National Scoring Champion, MVP)
