Morrison's 19 Paces Bishops in Road Win at MACU

Elizabeth City, N.C. - Senior Josh Morrison's 19 points paced four Battling Bishops in double figures on Tuesday night, as the N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team cruised to a 94-77 road win at Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The Bishops are now 3-0 to start the season.

Wesleyan raced out to a 51-33 lead at the half after shooting over 51 percent from the floor in the period. Morrison was a perfect 4-4 from the floor, which included a trio of three-pointers, while sophomore Brandon Brown led all scorers with 12 points in the half.

The second half saw the Bishops lead by as many as 26, allowing head coach John Thompson to go to his young bench early and often. His players responded with 67 bench points, led by Brown's 17. Sophomore Jesse Simpson and junior Isaac Brown chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Morrison also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, while senior David Gurganus and sophomore D.J. Weaver dished out five assists apiece. As a team, NCWC finished at over 50% shooting accuracy on the night, including an impressive 14-of-26 showing from behind the arc.

Wesleyan returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the South Region Classic, hosted this season by Hampden-Sydney College. The Bishops will face Shenandoah University on Friday at 5:30pm, followed by a 4:00pm match-up with the host Tigers on Saturday.
