Morrison's Career-Day Not Enough in OT Loss to GC

Rocky Mount, N.C. - Senior Josh Morrison poured in a career-high 35 points on Tuesday afternoon in Everett Gymnasium, but it would not be enough to lift the Bishops past the undefeated Quakers of Guilford College, who came away with an 84-78 overtime win and moved to 9-0 on the season.

The Bishops (4-5) trailed by 15 with 5:51 left in regulation, 68-53, but put together a furious rally down the stretch. Down 74-71 with 15 ticks on the clock, sophomore D.J. Weaver knocked down a game-tying three-pointer from the top of the key to force overtime.

In OT, sophomore Brandon Brown gave Wesleyan a 78-77 advantage with a lay-up at the 2:05 mark, but the Quakers' Alston Furr answered with a huge trey that put his team on top for good. Furr finished with a team-high 22 points on 6-of-7 shooting from behind the arc.

Morrison was 15-of-25 from the field, including four three-pointers, while hauling in six rebounds and dishing out three assists. Weaver finished with 12 points and Brown a game-high 15 boards.

NCWC will now break for the holidays before returning to action on January 3rd at Virginia Wesleyan College. Tip-off is slated for 3:00pm.
