Wesleyan Men Suffer 90-79 League Loss at Ferrum

Ferrum, Va. - The men's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan suffered a 90-79 loss at USA South foe Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon. The Bishops had four players reach double-figures, three of which combined for nine three-pointers, but they were unable to overcome the Panthers' shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor on the day.

The Bishops led by as many as 15 in the first half, going up 33-18 at the 6:55 mark on a lay-up by sophomore D.J. Weaver. Ferrum countered with a 18-6 run to close out the period to trail just 39-36 at the break.

The game remained tight in the second half, with the Bishops trailing 63-61 with 6:08 to go. Unfortunately, the Panthers scored eight of the game's next nine points to pull away, and the Bishops would get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Leading the way for Wesleyan were Weaver and senior David Gurganus, who knocked down four treys apiece en route to 17 and 15 points, respectively. They were complimented by Josh Morrison's 12 points, as well as Devontae Williams' double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

NCWC (9-12, 4-6 USA South) returns to action next Saturday when the Bishops host Greensboro College at 4:00pm in Everett Gymnasium.
