Rocky Mount, N.C. - Former Battling Bishop men's basketball standout Josh Morrison has signed to play professionally for Citybasket Recklinghausen, an affiliate of Eurobasket based in Germany. A 2014 Wesleyan graduate, Morrison will join the team on Wednesday, September 16th, and make his pro debut just ten days later.

"First off, I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me during this long and difficult journey," said Morrison, a Chapel Hill, N.C. native. "I also want to extend a special thank you to my college teammates and Coach Thompson, who prepared me for this opportunity by teaching me the fundamentals of being a professional both on and off the court."

"I am so proud of Josh," said Head Coach John Thompson. "He is such a hard worker, outstanding player, and even better person. He is very deserving of this opportunity, and I am confident he will have a very good professional career."

Located 45 minutes outside of Dusseldorf, Citybasket Recklinghausen enters both men's and women's team into the Eurobasket Championships. The ProB league features 24 German clubs playing a schedule that begins in September and concludes in March.  Recklinghausen tips off the 2015-2016 season on September 26th versus the Iserlohn Kangaroos.

Morrison enjoyed a stellar Battling Bishop career for Thompson, highlighted by a 2013-2014 senior season that saw the First Team All-Conference performer rank third in the USA South in scoring at 18.8 points per game. The versatile guard also added over five rebounds per contest, while ranking fourth in the league with 99 assists. Morrison made Wesleyan headlines on February 15th, 2014 when he became the 17th member of N.C. Wesleyan's 1,000-point club, and he was later honored as NCWC's 2014 Male Athlete of the Year.

Added Morrison, "I am excited to begin my pro career as a point guard with Reckinlinghausen. This shows that you should never give up on your dreams because you never know what God has in store for you."

Morrison becomes the 15th Bishop player to enter the pro ranks and the 12th coached by Thompson.
