LaGrange, Ga. / Montgomery, Ala. - Senior D.J. Weaver nailed a game-winning three-pointer in the final seconds to give his N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball squad a 73-72 victory at Huntingdon College on Sunday. The win came on the heels of a 114-98 thumping of LaGrange College on Saturday and leaves the Bishops in sole possession of first place in the USA South standings at 8-2.

Saturday's game at LaGrange (15-6, 6-4 USA South) was a high-scoring affair that saw sophomore Adrian Moore pour in a career-high 26 points. As a team, the Bishops shot nearly 66 percent from the floor, which included going 13-of-26 from behind the arc.

Wesleyan's hot shooting, however, did not follow the team to Huntingdon, but the Bishops used a scrappy effort to forge a 61-52 lead with just over ten minutes remaining. The Hawks proceeded to put together a 14-1 run to go up 66-62 at the 7:33 mark.

It was a back-and-forth contest from there that found Huntingdon clinging to a 72-70 advantage with under a minute to go. With the Bishops forced to foul, the Hawks (8-13, 1-9 USA South) missed the front end of a one-and-one with 22 seconds left, setting up Weaver's heroics down the stretch.

Moore again paced Wesleyan's offense with 21 points, while senior Brandon Brown added 17.

The Bishops (15-6) will now take their six-game winning streak into Wednesday's home finale versus rival Methodist University at 7:30pm. The Office of Advancement will be hosting Alumni Night in Everett Gymnasium, and head coach John Thompson will be honoring his 2016 senior class prior to tip-off.
