Four Bishops Earn USA South Postseason Recognition in Hoops

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its postseason awards in the sport of men's basketball, and N.C. Wesleyan is pleased to announce that four Battling Bishop players have earned recognition. Senior Adrian Moore was named a First Team selection for the third consecutive year, while sophomore A.J. Frye followed up his Rookie of the Year honor with Second Team accolades this season. Also garnering recognition were junior Robert Wilson as an Honorable Mention and sophomore Mitch Layton as a member of the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. The four were instrumental in helping the Bishops secure the program's ninth regular season conference championship this season.

Moore was one again tabbed a First Teamer after leading the team in total points (412), assists (92), and steals (58) thusfar this season. He is currently averaging 15.8 points per game, while his 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game both rank among league leaders. The senior from Plymouth, N.C. most recently eclipsed the 1,500-point mark for his career and will graduate as the first player in Wesleyan history to rank in the top-10 all-time in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Frye earns his first All-Conference honor after leading the team in scoring during league play at 17.5 points per game. The Wilmington, N.C. native also led the team and ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage at a blistering 63.3 accuracy on the season. Wilson, who hails from Chapel Hill, joins Frye as a first-time honoree with a solid all-around season that has seen him average over 13 points and a team-best 8.2 rebounds per USA South contest.

As East Division's top seed, Wesleyan will continue USA South Tournament play on Friday with a semifinal match-up with West #3 Covenant College at 5:00pm on the campus of Maryville College. The evening's second semifinal contest will feature the top-seeded host Scots from the West Division and East #2 Methodist University. The two winners will then face off in the tourney championship on Saturday at 6:00pm with the league's automatic berth on the line.
