Wesleyan Men's Offense Erupts to Defeat LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan College men's basketball used their offense to put away West Division foe LaGrange College 95-88 on the road on Wednesday afternoon.

Junior forward Isaiah Lewis led Wesleyan with a season-high of 24 points on 12 of 18 shooting along with 10 rebounds and 2 blocks for a double-double. Wesleyan would shoot 57.6 percent from the floor while putting 5 players in double-figure scoring.

Wesleyan improves to 8-3 overall with their 4th straight win while dropping LC to 4-6.

Senior wing Damon McDowell also scored 17 for the Bishops along with a block, 3 rebounds, and three 3-pointers. The Bishops and Panthers had a back and forth first half with neither team able to lead by more than six points as the foes went into the break tied at 39 apiece.

A tightly played second half then saw the Bishops pull away with around 9 minutes to go extending their two-point lead to 8 at 70-62. Wesleyan would then extend it to nine multiple times while LC could get no closer than 5 down the stretch as Wesleyan held off the Panthers for the win taking the second half 56-49.

Sophomore forward Kyron Kelly then played well off the bench recording a double-double himself with 11 points and 11 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Fellow forward, junior Sal-Bey Young was also in double-figure scoring with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and a block while sophomore PG Khalid Hinds was the final member of the five in double digits finishing with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals as he recorded a solid all-around game.

Sophomore guards Marquis Eskew and Austin Manley also combined for 16 points as well.

Wesleyan next returns to action tomorrow to face Piedmont University at 1 pm in Georgia.
