Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released it preseason coaches poll for lacrosse, with the Battling Bishops being picked to finish ninth overall. With six first-place votes, Ferrum College is the preseason favorite to capture the league's regular season crown.
The Bishops return nine starters from last year's squad and boast six newcomers. Leading the returners is sophomore Haley Hopkins, who was second on the team in scoring last season with 16 points (15 goals, 1 assist).
Wesleyan opens its season on February 18th at home versus Chowan University. The 2014 USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament will begin on campus sites on April 5th, then transition to the Rocky Mount Sports Complex on April 11-12 as a part of the league's Spring Sports Festival.
