Montgomery, Ala. - Freshman Alexandra Cucinotta netted a career-high nine goals in the Battling Bishops' 17-11 loss at Huntingdon College on Friday, setting a new NCWC program record for goals in a match. Friday's nine goals leave Cucinotta with 51 total on the season, which currently ranks third overall in the USA South.

Coming off Wednesday's heartbreaking 13-12 loss to Salem, Wesleyan fell behind 3-0 on Saturday before back-to-back goals by Cucinotta got the Bishops to within one midway the first half. The Hawks proceeded to reel off a trio of unanswered tallies before Cucinotta countered with three more scores to make the score 6-5. Unfortunately, Huntingdon netted the final three scores of the period to take a 9-5 lead into the break.

The second half saw the Hawks pull away after tallying seven of the first nine goals of the period. The Bishops closed out the match with a 4-1 run as Cucinotta and Samantha Valeros notched two goals apiece, but it was too little to late as HC secured the 17-11 victory. Goalie Ashlee Johnson finished with 15 saves for the Bishops, while Morgan Pelfrey made nine stops for the Hawks.

Wesleyan (1-12, 0-6 USA South) returns home to take on Methodist University on Tuesday at Scalf Field. The match is slated for 4:00pm.
