ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Three of N.C. Wesleyan's athletic teams volunteered their time Friday night to spend it with numerous local people with special needs to provide them with a prom night-like gathering at Rocky Mount's Englewood Baptist Church.

Englewood Baptist Church hosted a "Night to Shine", a worldwide event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation during which people ages 14 and above with special needs get to enjoy red-carpet treatment in a festive atmosphere.

That atmosphere includes the guests being paired with a buddy, getting the chance to enjoy a dance floor with a disc jockey, a karaoke room, photo ops and limousine rides.

The women's lacrosse, women's soccer and volleyball team at NC Wesleyan College helped volunteer with the event Friday evening.

The event culminated with every special guest being crowned the king or queen of the night.

The Tebow Foundation, which dates back to 2010, is led by former college and professional football quarterback Tim Tebow. The foundation seeks to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.

The Tim Tebow Foundation has a great passion for people with special needs and in 2014 we launched "Night to Shine." The vision was simple… work with churches around the country to provide an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God's love for people with special needs, ages 14 and older.
