ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Women's Lacrosse team could not hold on to their second half lead in falling 11-7 to non-conference foe Marietta College (OH) on Wednesday afternoon at Scalf Field.

Wesleyan got out to a 4-3 lead in the first half on a pair of goals each from sophomore midfielder Ali Cucinotta and freshman Madeline Graham. Marietta added another goal as the teams would go into the break tied at 4 apiece.

Cucinotta and freshman attacker Grace Look would then give the Bishops a quick 6-4 lead early in the second half before Marietta (1-5) awoke and score the next 7 unanswered goals to take a commanding 11-6 lead with 15 minutes to play.

Cucinotta would add her 4th goal of the game with 13 minutes to play, but that would be all the goals they could muster in falling by four.

Cucinotta led with 6 points on the day as she added 2 assists and 5 draw control wins. She also led the team with five ground balls and 2 caused turnovers as the Bishops fell to 0-6 on the season. Freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also made 17 saves on 28 shots in her best game of the year so far.

NC Wesleyan is back in action when they host conference rival William Peace University on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
