Lacrosse Falls to Piedmont

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team dropped their conference home game to Piedmont College 18-6 on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount.

Sophomore midfielder Ali Cucinotta led the Bishops with 4 goals, three draw control wins and picked up four ground balls on the day.

Piedmont got out to a quick 6-0 start before the Bishops rallied with Cucinotta scoring 3 of the next five goals overall to bring Wesleyan to within five at 8-3 with 9 minutes to play in the half.

Piedmont would unfortunately score the next 4 goals before half to lead 12-3 at the break. After Cucinotta would score her final goal of the game early in the second half, the Lady Lions would score 6 of the next 8 goals to put the game away improving to 3-5 overall.

Wesleyan also received goals from freshmen Madeline Graham and Grace Look on the day with Look winning 3 draws as well. Fellow freshman Madison O'Neill would add two assists and two draw wins on the day also.

Freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also made 10 saves on 28 shots on goal as the Bishops fall to 0-8.

Wesleyan will next step out of conference play for the final time this season with a home game on Tuesday to host Hollins University (Va.) (1-6) at 4 PM.
