Lady Bishops Rally but Fall 16-14 to Hollins

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Women's Lacrosse team rallied with a big second half, but fell two goals short of their first win falling 16-14 to non-conference foe Hollins University (Va.) on Tuesday afternoon. 

Wesleyan outscored Hollins 10-7 in the second half while outshooting them 18-10 after trailing 9-4 at halftime.

Sophomore Ali Cucinotta and freshman attacker Grace Look led the Lady Bishops with 5 and 6 goals, respectively, including a combined nine between them in the second half. They helped the Bishops on a 6-2 run to start the second half and bring Wesleyan to within one goal of Hollins at 11-10 with 20 minutes to play.

After a Hollins timeout, the Green & Gold would go on a 5-2 run to make it 16-12 with 2:30 to play. The Bishops would then add two late goals from Look and Cucinotta but it would not be enough in the end.

Hollins improves to 2-6 with the win while Wesleyan falls to 0-9.

Cucinotta and Look also each won six draw controls apiece while freshman Madison O'Neill led with six ground balls and four caused turnovers. O'Neill also totaled four points as she scored two goals and assisted on two others. Freshman attacker Madeline Graham also scored a goal on the day while Cucinotta forced 4 Hollins turnovers and picked up 5 ground balls as well.

The Bishops are next in action on Saturday at home to host West Division conference foe Huntingdon University (Ala.) at 1:00 PM.
