Women's Lacrosse Wins Second Straight

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - the NC Wesleyan women's lacrosse team won their second straight game of the season on Wednesday as they defeated conference foe Salem College 20-6.

The Ladies played their best game of the year in outscoring the Spirits 16-5 in the first half and 4-1 in the second in rolling to the win. Wesleyan also outshot Salem 40-16 overall.

The Bishops scored the first 3 goals of the game before Salem got on the board. Salem (1-11, 0-6) would trim Wesleyan's lead to 5-3 with 21 minutes to play. After NCWC led just 8-5 with 12 to go in the half, the Bishops would then go on a massive 8-0 run to end the half up by 11. 

Freshman Kailey Andrasko then paced the Bishops with two goals in the second half as Wesleyan controlled the game for their second win improving to 2-10 on the year and 2-4 in the USA South.

Freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also played well for a second straight game making 6 saves on 12 shots for the win.

Sophomore midfielder Ali Cucinotta led the Bishops with 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points, 5 ground balls, and 4 caused turnovers on the day while also winning 5 draw controls.

Freshman attacker Grace Look then scored 5 goals while winning 6 draws with fellow freshman Madeline Graham scoring 3 goals and winning 3 draws. Freshman Madison O'Neill also tallied 5 points on the day with 3 goals and 2 assists while fellow freshman Lindsay Abernathy also scored a goal and had an assist in the game.

The Bishops will remain on the road to face LaGrange College (Ga.) on Saturday at 12 PM.
