ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough conference game at home on Wednesday as their rally fell short in falling 19-15 to Greensboro College.

The Pride got out to a fast start leading 6-2 after the first 12 minutes of action. Sophomore midfielder Ali Cucinotta would then rally the Bishops scoring the first 5 goals of the game for them to bring Wesleyan to within 8-6 with 6 minutes to play in the half. Greensboro, however, would end up taking an 11-7 lead at intermission.

Cucinotta would get Wesleyan to 11-8 in the opening minute of the half, but G-boro would go on a 4-1 run to lead 15-9 with 20 minutes to go before Wesleyan began their comeback.

The Bishops would score 5 goals in a row led by three consecutive ones form Cucinotta to complete a 6-1 run that brought the ladies to within 16-15 with 8 minutes to play. Unfortunately, though, Grensboro would find their stride and end the game on a 3-0 run to take the road victory and improve to 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference while Wesleyan falls to 3-11 and 3-5 in the conference as their 3-game win streak came to an end.

Cucinotta ended up tying her own school record that she set last year by scoring 9 goals in the game. She also collected 6 ground balls and won five draws to lead the team.

Also scoring two goals apiece were freshmen attackers Kailey Andrasko and Grace Look while freshman Madeline Graham scored a goal and assisted on another as well. Freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also made 17 saves for the Bishops with Carlie Pascale adding a goal as well.

Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday when they travel to face their rival, Methodist at 12 PM.
