ROCKY MOUNT, NC - The NC Wesleyan College lacrosse team fell 15-8 to conference rival Averett University (Va.) in their home finale on Tuesday afternoon.

The undermanned Bishops played a man down all game due to injuries, but competed very hard staying close to the bigger Averett squad throughout the game. The teams traded goals through the first 15 minutes as Ali Cucinotta tied it at 3. However Averett would go on a run to lead 12-5 at the break. Wesleyan, though, could get no closer than seven goals in the low-scoring second half as each team scored 3 goals apiece.

Leading the Bishops in goals were Cucinotta with four as well as 2 assists. She also recorded a season-high of 10 ground balls while winning six draw controls to lead the team. Freshman attacker Kailey Andrasko added two goals and two ground balls as well while fellow freshman attacker Grace Look also scored two goals with an assist while winning three draws. Freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also made 12 saves in the loss.

The Lady Bishops fell to 3-13 overall and 3-7 with the tough loss while Averett improves to 12-4 and 10-2 in conference.

The Bishops will finish their season on Thursday with a game at Pfeiffer University at 1:00 PM.
