Lacrosse Falls to Pfeiffer in Finale

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan women's lacrosse team fell 23-5 on the road to conference foe Pfeiffer University (N.C.) in their season finale on Thursday afternoon. 

Pfeiffer got out to a quick start and went on to lead 15-3 at halftime. The Falcons then outscored the Bishops 8-2 in the second half as the undermanned Ladies were defeated.

Pfeiffer improves to 10-1 overall and 9-1 in the conference as they finished in second place while the Bishops finished the season 3-14 and 3-8 in the conference setting a season record for conference wins and tying a school record for overall wins. Wesleyan finished 9th out of 12 in the USA South.

Sophomore midfielder Ali Cucinotta finished the game with 4 goals and 11 draw control wins while also collecting 3 GBs. 

Freshman attacker Grace Look also scored a goal with an assist while winning four draws on the day. Fellow freshman goalie Millenia Crespo also made 10 saves while collecting five ground balls. Crespo finished the season with 220 saves and is now the school-record holder for saves in a season and a career as well as the single-game save record of 24 set in the win over Brevard in March.

Cucinotta finished the season with 63 goals (falling one short of the school record), a school-record of 23 assists for a total of 86 points, which was also a school record, along with school records in ground balls with 78, caused turnovers with 39, and draw controls with 116. She also holds school career records in all six categories as well.
