Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for April 2nd, and North Carolina Wesleyan had two freshmen recognized. Hatteras Brooks of baseball was tabbed the league's Rookie Pitcher of the Week, while Michelle Hart was named Rookie of the Week in women's tennis.
A native of Washington, N.C., Brooks tossed a complete-game shutout in his only appearance for the Bishops last week. In an 8-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney, Brooks went the distance and allowed four hits with three walks and six strikeouts. This is his second Rookie Pitcher of the Week award this season.
Hart, who hails from Rosebud, Australia, went 3-0 in both singles and doubles play last week. She earned two singles wins at the #3 position over opponents from Ferrum and Greensboro while one win, over Ferrum, came at the #2 spot. In doubles, all three victories came at the #2 seed with teammate Yvonne Kamegne.
