Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

Rocky Mount, N.C. - September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community.

For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events. The passes, which are good for up to four people, were delivered to area stations by Wesleyan student-athletes during the week of 9/11.

Our softball team, for example, honored the Nashville Police and Fire Departments, while men's tennis and football and stayed local by distributing to the fire stations on Fenner Road and Highway 4. Soccer visited Station Six, and basketball headed downtown. No matter the destination, however, Wesleyan athletes benefited from getting out into the community and surrounding areas for this worthy cause.

This marks the tenth consecutive season that the Battling Bishops have honored the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 by distributing these passes, which serve as a small token of our gratitude for our local law enforcement. To them, we say "THANK YOU!"

Below are photos from this year's distribution.
